Connect Gumroad

Gumroad connects in one click. You sign in to Gumroad, approve access to your sales, and Clakta starts recording every sale, refund and dispute. There is no webhook URL to copy and no key to paste.

You need to be an owner of the team to connect a sales platform.

1. Open your project and go to Project settings → Sales platforms.
2. Find Gumroad and click Connect.
3. Click Connect with Gumroad. A Gumroad window opens.
4. Sign in and approve the access Clakta asks for.

The card now shows your Gumroad name and Added. Clakta only asks to read your sales, so it can't refund a sale, edit your products or email your customers.

New sales appear within a few seconds. Sales from before you connected are not imported.

Match sales to the visitors who made them

Gumroad keeps the query parameters on a product link and sends them along with the sale. To link a sale to the visit that led to it, add the visitor's Clakta session to your Gumroad links as clakta_session_id.

Paste this on your site, after the Clakta script:

It adds the session to any link to gumroad.com or your yourname.gumroad.com page when the visitor clicks it.

Clakta also reads clkt and UTM tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content) from the link, plus the UTM tags Gumroad records on its own. If your ad sends people straight to a Gumroad product page, put your tracking parameters on that ad URL and they are recorded with the sale.

Track visits to your Gumroad pages

To also count visits to your Gumroad product pages, add the Clakta script in Gumroad under Settings → Third-party analytics → Snippets, with Location set to All pages. Gumroad runs these snippets on gumroad-analytics.com, so add gumroad-analytics.com to your data stream's domains too. The installation dialog in Clakta has the exact steps.

What gets recorded

Every paid sale becomes an order, and each charge of a membership is an order of its own. Gumroad reports amounts in US dollars, so orders are recorded in USD whatever currency your product is priced in.

A full refund marks the order as refunded. After a partial refund the order stays paid. A chargeback marks the order as refunded, and it goes back to paid if you win the dispute.

Clakta skips purchases that aren't real sales:

• your own test purchases of your products
• pre-order authorizations (the charge when the product is released is recorded)
• free-trial signups (the first charge after the trial is recorded)
• free products and 100% discounts
