Connect Stripe
Link your Stripe account in one click so every payment, refund and dispute reaches Clakta — and each sale is matched to the visitor who made it.
Stripe is the quickest platform to connect. You sign in once, pick your account, and Clakta starts recording your sales. There is nothing to copy, paste or configure afterwards.
Connect
- Open your project and go to Project settings → Sales platforms.
- Find Stripe and click Connect.
- Click Connect with Stripe. A Stripe window opens.
- Sign in and choose the account you want to connect.
That is the whole setup. The card now shows your Stripe business name and Added.
Clakta asks Stripe for read-only access. It can see your payments, but it cannot charge anyone, issue refunds or change anything in your account. You can revoke that access from Stripe at any time.
New sales appear within a few seconds of being paid. Sales from before you connected are not imported.
Match sales to the visitors who made them
Recording a sale tells you that you earned money. Matching it to a visitor tells you where that money came from — which ad, which post, which page.
How you do this depends on how you take payments.
Payment links
If you send people to a Stripe payment link, tell Stripe to send them back to your own site afterwards, and Clakta does the rest.
In Stripe, open the payment link, go to After payment, choose Redirect customers to your website, and use a URL like this:
Type {CHECKOUT_SESSION_ID} exactly as written — Stripe swaps it for a real
value. As long as your thank-you page has the
Clakta script on it, the
sale is matched automatically.
Checkouts you build yourself
If your own code creates the Stripe checkout, send the visitor's Clakta session along with it. This is the most reliable option, because it does not depend on the shopper coming back to your site:
Read claktaSessionId in the browser with clakta.getSessionId() and send it to
your server with the rest of the checkout request. The same metadata works on a
Payment Intent, and if metadata is awkward in the tool you are using, Clakta
also reads Stripe's client_reference_id field.
Nothing breaks if you skip this. Sales are still recorded with their full revenue — they just show up as unattributed, meaning Clakta knows the money came in but not who brought it.
What Clakta records
- How much the sale was for, in the currency it was paid in
- The customer's name and email
- What they bought
- How they paid — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, and so on
- Whether it was later refunded
- Which visitor and which ad it came from, when that is known
Refunds and disputes
Refund a payment in Stripe and the sale is marked refunded in Clakta within seconds. Refunding only part of a payment leaves the sale as paid, because Clakta records each sale as a single amount.
Disputes are counted once they are settled, not when they are opened. If you lose one, the sale becomes refunded. If you win, it goes back to paid.
Disconnect
Go to Project settings → Sales platforms, open the menu on the Stripe card, and choose Delete. This also removes Clakta's access from your Stripe account, so nothing more is sent.
Sales already recorded stay in Clakta. Disconnecting never deletes your history.
