Create your team
Your team is the billing and access boundary in Clakta. Here is what onboarding asks for, what the slug affects, and when you need more than one team.
A team owns everything else in Clakta: the plan and invoice, the members and their roles, the API keys, and the projects that hold your data. You create one the first time you sign in, and most accounts never need a second.
What onboarding asks for
After you verify your email, onboarding walks through four short steps:
- Welcome — a quick introduction to what you are about to set up.
- Team — the name and slug of your team.
- Plan — pick a plan, or start on Free and upgrade later.
- Invite — optionally invite teammates by email. You can skip this and do it later from Settings → Members.
Name
Whatever you call your company or brand. It appears in the team switcher, in invitation emails and on your invoices. You can change it at any time in Settings → General.
Slug
The slug is the first segment of every URL inside the app:
https://www.clakta.com/<team-slug>/<project-slug>It must be unique across all of Clakta, so a short, specific slug is more likely to be free than a generic one. Clakta checks availability as you type.
You can rename the slug later in Settings → General, but every bookmark, shared dashboard link and browser autocomplete entry that used the old one stops working. Choose deliberately now if you can.
Choosing a plan
You can complete onboarding on the Free plan and upgrade whenever you like — nothing you configure is lost when you change plans. What the plan controls is how much you can collect and keep:
| Free | Pro | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Events / month | 100,000 | 1,000,000 | 5,000,000 |
| Orders / month | 100 | 1,000 | 5,000 |
| Projects | 1 | 3 | 6 |
| Members | 1 | 3 | 10 |
| Dashboard presets | 1 | 3 | 10 |
| Data retention | 30 days | 365 days | 730 days |
Enterprise plans raise every limit and remove the retention cap. See Plans and limits for the full comparison, including API rate limits and Clakta AI budgets.
Start on Free if you are evaluating. The event and order allowances are enough to confirm that tracking and attribution work on your real site before you pay for anything.
When you need a second team
Create another team when the billing or the people need to be separate — an agency running client accounts, or a holding company with independent business units. Each team gets its own plan, invoice, member list and API keys.
If you just run two stores under the same company, create a second project inside the same team instead. Projects already isolate data, currency and ad accounts, and they share the plan you are already paying for.
Creating additional teams requires at least one of your teams to be on a paid plan. On Free you get a single team.
Next step
With the team created, create your first project — that is where tracking and ad connections actually live.

Create your first project
A project is one business — its own site, currency, ad accounts and data. Here is what each setting does and which ones are hard to change later.
Install the tracking script
Create a script in your project, then add it to your site with a script tag or the Next.js SDK. Takes a few minutes and starts collecting page views immediately.
